Navy sailors excel in Aero Engine Basic Course

For the first time, four sailors in the engineering branch of the Navy followed the Aero Engine Basic Course conducted by the Sri Lanka Air Force, which is accepted as one of the main courses of Aero engineering field. This course was conducted at the Trade Training School of SL Air Force in Ekala, and prizes were awarded at the end of the course.

Out of 11 participants of the Air Force and Navy, sailors secured the first and third places. Accordingly, Engine Room Artificer IV OPTL Openayake became the first, while Engine Room Artificer III SPMD Kumara secured the third position.

Moreover, these qualified sailors will be attached to the gas turbine ships, which are scheduled to be bought for the Navy in future and to the proposed Naval Air Wing, as per the directives of Director General Engineering.
