Two arrested for fishing without valid licences

A group of naval personnel attached to the North-western Naval Command arrested two persons engaged in fishing activities without valid licences during a patrol conducted in the sea area of Salliyampiddi, yesterday. Along with the suspects, dinghy and outboard motor were also seized by the navy. The arrested persons have been identified as residents of Kalpitiya, aged 42 and 28.

The suspects, together with dinghy, outboard motor and other fishing gear, were handed over to the Fisheries Inspector of Puttalam for further investigation.
