Report finds fraudulent sale of UC land

Irregularities have taken place during the sale of land belonging to the Wattala-Mabola Urban Council, an investigative report found yesterday.

The report of the board of inquiry appointed by the Western Province Governor Azath Salley to look into this sale, was submitted to the Governor yesterday.

A statement from the Governor’s office said: “Consequent to the report submitted by the board of inquiry, the Governor’s office is in the process of holding preliminary investigations to find out the possibility of taking legal action against those involved in the deal.”
