Rajans end Vidyartha’s unbeaten run

Dharmaraja College ended Vidyartha College’s unbeaten run when they beat them by 22 points (one goal, one penalty goal, one try, one penalty) to 20 (one goal, two tries, one penalty) in their Singer schools rugby match played at Nittawela grounds on Sunday. At lemons Vidyartha led 10-3.

Thanks to a superior Rajans pack they dictated proceedings after they endured a rugged quarter in the second half from the Vidyartha XV.

Vidyartha dominated the first half’s play but failed in the last quarter, where very little went right for them.

With seconds on the clock ticking away for the final whistle, the Rajans scored the match winning try to become second in the Division I B standings to Vidyartha.

For Dharmaraja M.P. Herapitiya and R.P. Sadasekara scored the tries and S.M. Wijesuri scored the penalty goal, the conversion and the penalty. For Vidyartha P.B.Kaluarachchi (two) and R.B.A Ratnayake (one) scored tries and the kicking was done by P.B. Kaluarachchi.
