Royal College Colombo emerged champions of the ‘Singer Trophy’ Under 19 division 11 inter-schools limited-over cricket tournament when they defeated Sri Sumangala College Panadura by 8 wickets in the final played at Moors grounds yesterday.
Sri Sumangala were restricted to a total of 231 for 8 wickets in 50 overs with Imeth Gampola making a top score of 84 off 89 deliveries with 8 fours and 2 sixes.
Royal replied with 232 for 2 wickets in 39.5 overs with Pasindu Sooriyabandara scoring an unbeaten 102 off 87 balls with 13 fours and a six. Ahan Wickramasinghe contributed with an unbeaten 74 off 79 balls with 6 fours and shared an unbroken stand of 159 for the third wicket with Sooriyabandara that carried Royal to a comprehensive win.
