ADB assistance to boost primary health care facilities

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has provided Rs.60 million to the Sri Lankan Government to upgrade primary health care facilities, a Health Ministry spokesman said.

According to the spokesman, Rs.37.5 million of this amount has been provided as a concessionary loan while Rs. 12.5 million comes as a grant. Rs.10 million has been provided with the approval of the Sri Lankan Government.

“The primary health care development project is to be completed by November 30,2023.The project which would increase the productivity of state health institutions covers the Central, North Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces,” he said. “The primary health care development project which focuses on developing people’s social and economic conditions will be launched by Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne at 5p.m. today at the BMICH, Colombo,” he added.
