Super Centres to assist HelpAge cataract surgeries

Sri Lanka’s major Super Centres and business enterprises have partnered with HelpAge Sri Lanka (HASL) in their endeavor of collecting funds from general public to perform free cataract surgeries , mobile health and eye camps for under privileged senior citizens in the country.

The main super centres include Keells, Cargills, Arpico, Laughfs and also leading business enterprises, Perera and Sons, Pizza Hut and the Kandy City Centre has come to an agreement to place HelpAge charity tills at their business centres to enable customers to make donations towards this worthy cause.

The Kandy Shopping Centre at Nugegoda was the latest business enterprise has also come forward to place HelpAge charity tills at its business premises too.

Kandy City Centre, Manager Tharaka Nalinda said his business enterprise has very often been helping needy citizens in the country to improve their health conditions and social activities through their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

HelpAge Executive Director Samantha Liyanawaduge has appreciated the Super Centres and other business organizations for their invaluable support to improve the vision of needy people in our society.

He said all donations obtained from the charity tills currently placed in business enterprises are utilized to help underprivileged Senior Citizens in Sri Lanka.

He also stated that in addition to free cataract surgeries performed at its Eye Hospital at Sinsapa Road , Wellawatte, HelpAge also provides needy citizens with free disability equipment such as wheel chairs , crutches, hearing aids , spectacles and also conduct free mobile medical and eye camps islandwide.

HelpAge Sri Lanka is the sister organization of HelpAge International, United Kingdom and is a Non Profit Charitable Organization that works to resolve the social, medical and low vision issues faced by destitute Sri Lankan elderly citizens.

HelpAge, Project Offricer Tissa Silva has appealed to interested persons to join hands with HelpAge to improve the living standards of needy elders.
