Civilians prohibited from wearing Police, Military uniforms

Army Spokesman Brigadier Sumith Atapattu said that steps will be taken to prevent civilians from wearing Police or military camouflage uniforms, citing that it is punishable by law and they can be penalized if caught.

He further said, it prohibits civilians from wearing, using, manufacturing, and selling military uniforms, insignia, medals, and badges prescribed only for soldiers and policemen. According to the law, jail sentences of six months or fines can be imposed to civilians if they found guilty,” he added.
