36th ‘Battle of the Rocks’ from today

The 36th ‘Battle of the Rocks’ annual cricket encounter between two leading schools in Kurunegala St. Anne’s College and Maliyadeva College will be played at the Welagedara Stadium in Kurunegala today and tomorrow.

The 24th limited-over cricket encounter between the two schools will be played on Sunday (March 24) at same venue. All-rounder Kaveen Bandara leads Maliyadeva with Supun Sumanaratna as his deputy and fourth year player Kavindu Ranasinghe will captain St. Anne’s with Lasith Warnakulasooriya as vice captain.

Maliyadeva played 16 matches this season and has one outright win over Isipathana College and three outright losses to D.S. Senanayake College, Dharmasoka College and St. Benedict’s College with the rest drawn.

St. Anne’s promoted to division one this season has played 15 matches and won against St. Anthony’s College Wattala and lost to Trinity College, Thurstan College and Wesley College.
