Free vocational training for women in Hakmana

The Southern Provincial Rural Development Ministry has initiated measures to set up women’s welfare centres in the region.

Under the proposed programme, a women’s welfare centre has commenced in the Hakmana Divisional Secretariat Division. Over 30 women have been selected by the centre for vocational training programmes. Accordingly, they would be provided with training in food technology, sewing, tailoring, beauty culture, production of ornamental items and manufacture of footwear.

The training duration for each course would be for one year.

All courses are free of charge and they would be conducted under the supervision of the Hakmana Divisional Secretariat Office officials.

Diploma certificates would be awarded to trainees who successfully complete these courses.

Considering the programme’s progress, training would be extended to other parts in the region, project officials added.

The Southern Provincial Rural Development Ministry is funding the project.
