Closing ceremony in Puttalam district under President’s patronage today

The closing ceremony of Ekata Sitimu (Stand together for the country) programme will be held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena at the Puttalam district Shakthi Sports Stadium today.

The main aim of the “Stand together for the country” project is to conduct the special projects of the President and other national development projects conducted by different ministries and social welfare projects in an effective and efficient manner to reap more benefits to the masses at rural and district level. The programmes include, the drug prevention programme conducted under the guidance of the President which is a national development project, the national programme for protecting children and the national environmental conservation programme.

The first district project of the programme started on March 18 in the Puttalam district covering 16 Divisional Secretariats and all 332 Grama Nildhari domains in the Puttalam district. Services were provided to give solutions to issues related to the education, health, and vocational by the different public services to the community.

Drug prevention, kidney diseases prevention, environmental conservation, and other special programmes are conducted at different places in the district.

Providing solutions to long term issues faced by the public, the “Stand together for the country” programme will be carried out covering all districts of the country.

The opening of a new Urban Council stadium, Municipal Council and Smart Sri Lanka computer unit of the Puttalam district will be opened by President Sirisena to mark the occasion.
