International Women’s Day was celebrated by the Chamber of Tourism and Industry Sri Lanka (CTIS) at the Pacific Hotel, Arugam-Bay in Pottuvil recently.
President of the Chamber A. M. Jaufer and Ampara District Secretary D. M. L. Bandaranayake graced the occasion as the Chief Guests. Pottuvil Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman M. S. Abdul Wazeeth, Pottuvil Divisional Secretary M. A. C. Ahamed Nazeel, Lahugala Divisional Secretary Sandaruwan Anuruddha, High ranking officials, District Women’s Organizations members and many others also participated at this event. Several key female personalities who had excelled in their respective fields were felicitated at the ceremony.
Best Rural Women Society Award, Best Female Social Services Award, Women Journalists Awards, Small and Medium Business Women Award, Female Employees who have worked for over 10 years in the Government and Non-Government Award and female employees who have worked in the tourism sector were presented with the memento after honouring them by draping them with Golden Shawl.
Chief Guest Ampara District Secretary D. M. L. Bandaranayake and the special guests were also honoured for their outstanding contributions for women to excel in their respective fields.
