Body found hanging from tree

Police found the body of a woman hanging from a tree, at Suduwella in Madampe yesterday.

Preliminary police investigations revealed the deceased is a resident of Madampe, and had been staying with her paramour, who has three children.

Inquirer into Sudden Deaths in charge of the area recorded a verdict of suspicious death, as bloodstains were found in several places at the scene of the crime.

Chilaw Acting Magistrate Pradeep Rodrigo visited the scene and ordered a postmortem to be conducted at the Chilaw Base Hospital.

Police sources said the deceased woman had two children of her own.
