Invasive plants block Konawatta River

Invasive aquatic plants have spread in the Konawatta River in Addalaichenai, and it has now become an environmental hazard as garbage and contaminated water from nearby hotels and houses are released to the river.

Therefore, residents in the area urge authorities to resolve the issue as dengue is spreading again in the area. They say the bridge over the river needs repairs. It is overgrown with weeds blocking the river, they said.
