Robbers nabbed ahead of complaint

A man in Rideemaliyadda from whose house gold jewellery worth Rs. 800,000 was stolen, was overjoyed to learn that the suspects had been caught by police, even before he made the complaint.

When he went to make the complaint about the theft to the Rideemaliyadda Police, they had already arrested the three suspects who burgled his house.

The Police also seized gold jewellery worth Rs. 800,000 and Rs. 40,000 which they had allegedly stolen the previous night.

The Police had learnt everything about the robbery before the complainant came to the station. The Police while on routine patrol in Aandaaulpatha town had questioned the three on suspicion, when they happened to meet the suspects at dawn, a few hours after the robbery.

Thereafter, the Police arrested the three suspects. One suspect was from Rohana, Mahiyangana, while the other two were from Kundalunuka, Rideemaliyadda. They were of the ages 18, 22 and 46. The suspects were to be produced before the Mahiyangana Magistrate.
