The Muhurath ceremony of ‘Haratha Hera’ (King of Hearts) a teledrama directed by famed teledrama director Chandika Wijayasena took place at the Independent Television Network (ITN) premises at Wickramasinghepura, Battaramulla.

The event was attended by ITN CEO, Rasanjana Harishchandra, General Manager Aruna Murthi Wijesinghe, senior management of ITN and artistes.

Chandika Wijayasena is an artiste who understands the whims and fancies of his viewers and caters to them with his directorial prowess. He has been bestowed with awards and accolades at many award ceremonies including Raigam Tele Awards.

Tele dramas such as ‘Sathsara Rangana’, ‘Bonda Meedum’, ‘Ithin Ita Passe’, ‘Kon Kala Doni’, ‘Ridee Siththam’ and ‘Kopi Kade’ speak for Chandika’s ability as a director.

Working in a tele drama directed by Chandika would be a pleasure for any actor since this humble person has an unruffled temperament. This quality of Chandika motivates actors to deliver their best. Eventually the viewer is bestowed with a tele drama of first-class quality.

Speaking at the Muhurath, Kumara Siriwardene who is a senior journalist, author, actor and a script writer said he was privileged to do the script of ‘Haratha Hera’.

“Black money wrecks havoc in the world and Sri Lanka is no exception. ‘Haratha Hera’ revolves around such a story. The viewers would see it in mid March this year,” he said.

“Though I position myself as a writer, ITN made me an actor two decades back and I pay my gratitude to ITN,” he added.

ITN General Manager Murthi Wijesinghe said as a team all must elevate ITN to greater heights. He said stiff competition compels artistes and management of media institutions to work hard to create an edge for them.

Chandika Nanayakkara of ‘Ithin Ita Passe’ fame is the producer of ‘Haratha Hera’. He plays the main role in the tele drama with a host of other seasoned actors including Janak Premalal, Buddhadasa Vithanachchi, Gayan Gunawardene, Meena Kumari, Hyacinth Wijeratne, Ishan Gammudali and Anjali Budawatte.
