Retired teacher released on Rs. 2 mn surety bail

Tangalle Magistrate and Additional District Judge Lilantha Tilan Warshavithana released a retired teacher on a surety bail of Rs. 2 million after she was charged with cheating another retired teacher.

She was accused of obtaining Rs. 5 million from the other promising repayment.

The retired teacher had lodged a complaint with Tangalle Police that the accused did not return the money as promised.

The suspect, 64, is a resident of Kotalawala road in Kaduwela.

The retired teacher is W. G. Piyaseeli, a resident of Gulugahakoratuwa at Dammulla in Beliatta.
