A suspect who had attacked well-known singer Rookantha Gunathilaka after a singing competition organised by a private television channel, was netted by the Mirihana Police yesterday morning.
The veteran singer who had been one of the judges of the competition, was allegedly attacked by a supporter of a contestant in the singing competition. The suspect had also damaged the luxury vehicle belonging to the celebrity.
The suspect was identified by police as 68-year-old individual, who is a resident of Wilwaasalawatte in the Divulapitiya Police Division.
The suspect was to be produced before the Gangodawila Magistrate’s Court by the Mirihana Police. Further police investigations are being conducted under the direction of Officer-In- Charge of the Mirihana Police.
