Visiting Pakistan blind cricket team's three one day and three T20 series against their Sri Lankan counterparts commenced on Feb. 21 at the Mercantile cricket grounds.

Pakistan is ranked number two while Sri Lanka slotted at three in the world rankings. The second one day game will be played at BRC grounds on Feb. 22 and the third one will be worked off on Feb 25 at Bloomfield grounds. The T20 tournament will commence from Bloomfield grounds on Feb. 27 and the second T20 will be worked off on Feb 28 at BRC and the final T20 will be played at BRC on March 1.

According to the Sri Lanka Blind Cricket Association secretary Chaminda Pushpakumara,"even though the Lankan team has toured Pakistan three times and played against them in tournaments, this is the first time they meet Pakistan team in Sri Lanka".

"Lankan blind cricket team has faced Pakistan counterparts in five world cup tournaments and two T20 tourneys. We have beaten world number one India in a one day tour last July and also won the T20 match against them, so the players are very confident to perform well in this tournament".

"Pakistan and India have recognized their blind cricket association as a member of the national cricket governing body, but it is sad that Sri Lanka cricket has not recognized it's blind cricket association as an affiliated body as yet."

The vice president of the World Blind Cricket Association Salman Bubadi is here with the Pakistan team and said that they hope the Lankan blind cricket Association will gain the recognition of SLC very soon.
