Navy apprehends five Indian poachers

Five Indian fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing in Sri Lankan waters and their trawler were apprehended by a Naval craft attached to the North Central Naval Command in the seas North west of Arippu beacon, yesterday.

Accordingly, Indian fishers and their trawler were brought to SLNS Gajaba. After a basic medical test, they are due to be handed over to Assistant Director of Fisheries in Mannar for onward legal action.
