Commander of the Navy visits South Eastern Naval Command

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva made a visit to the South Eastern Naval Command yesterday.

Upon his arrival, Vice Admiral Silva was warmly received by the Commander South Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Ruwan Perera.

After inspection of the divisions at the parade ground of SLNS Mahanaga, the Commander of the Navy addressed the officers and sailors of the command. Later on, a briefing for Navy Chief on the role and responsibilities of South Eastern Naval Command was conducted at the Command Conference hall. Next, he paid an observation visit to the command operational room and planted a Ebony sapling in the Ops room premises.

Then, the Commander of the Navy inspected the radar station at Sangamamgramam Naval Sub Unit and he planted an Ironwood (Naa) sapling in that premises. As the next event of the visit, Vice Admiral Silva declared opened a RO plant which was established within a short period of time to quench the drinking water requirement of the people in Sangamamgramam area and he also took time off to speak with the general public gathered there.

Further, after the inspection visit in the Oluvil port premises the Navy Commander visited the Naval Sub Unit Kalmunai where a radar station is maintained by SLNS Mahanaga and as a signification of his visit the Commander of the Navy planted a mango sapling there. With his worship to the Mugugan temple at Okanda and obtaining the blessings, the visit concluded.

All Heads of Departments in South Eastern Naval Command and the Commanding Officer of SLNS Mahanaga were also present on these occasions.
