The Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) launched a news website yesterday under the patronage of Ports, Shipping and Southern Development Minister Sagala Ratnayaka.

Minister Ratnayake while launching the website www.news.slpa.lk said people, especially stakeholders, students, undergraduates and researchers who study ports and port-related fields can utilise the website as a news source.

He added that the website has details of port-related achievements and developments and their history as well. In addition to the SLPA official website www.slpa.lk, the new website has been launched to disseminate news regarding the Colombo Port and other ports in Sri Lanka, with the objectives of promoting them locally and internationally.

“The website will be an ideal platform for researchers and students both in schools and universities.

Besides, the website makes the local and international community aware of current port-related activities and the developments that took place over decades,” he said.
