Flood affected K’nochchi farmers get Rs.200 mn in compensation

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday granted compensation worth Rs.200 million to farmers in the Killinochchi district whose harvest was destroyed by floods .

The Prime Minister added that the government will continue accepting applications from farmers who were affected by the floods.

He also reviewed the progress of development activities taking place in the Killinochchi and Mannar districts yesterday. The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for the new Emergency Treatment Unit of Killinochchi Hospital. Medical equipment worth Rs.84 million were also provided to the hospital by the Prime Minister.

The Premier also laid the foundation stone for Pallimunai resettlement village in Mannar and he is expected to visit Mullaitivu district today.
