Three private bus employees remanded

Three private bus employees who assaulted a SLTB bus conductor in a Pulmude-Colombo SLTB bus and damaged his ticket issuing machine on Monday were remanded by Chilaw Magistrate and District Judge Manjula Ratnayake yesterday.

K. Sisira Priyantha and Sugath Sanjeewa of Maiyawa, Nalladaranakattuwa, and Nimal Karunathilake of Pallama were accused of the assault and damage.

Court was told the three employees entered the bus of the Kebithigollewa SLTB depot when it stopped near the Chilaw YMBA and assaulted its conductor P. Roshan (32). Chilaw Police told court that the employees on the Chilaw-Puttlam Road (Route No. 914) staged a protest against the arrest of the three suspects.
