Woman shot in Kotahena

A 39 year old woman allegedly involved in the illict drug trade was injured in a shooting that happened at Bodhiraja Mawatha, Melwatte in the Kotahena police division last night.

The shooting was carried out by two gunmen who arrived on a motorcycle. They had fled the scene after opening fire at the victim, Police said.

Police identified the woman as Asha Fari alias Kudi Chuti said to be a close associate of underworld leader Kanjipani Imran, now held in Dubai. She is alleged to have been involved in the heroin business.

The injured woman has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Colombo National Hospital for treatment.
