Complainant remanded

Kurunegala High Court Judge Menaka Wijesundara ordered to remand Anjala Nalaka, a complainant who did not appear in court for 12 years.

In this case, Kurunegala Mayor Thushara Sanjeewa Vitharana and three others were accused of attempting to kill Anjala Nalaka on September 16, 2007. When the case came up before court, State Counsel Charaka Charmasiri told court the suspects of the case, Mayor Thushara Sangeewa Vitharana has told the complainant, Anjala Nalaka, not to appear in court. Anjala had played hide and seek for nearly 12 years and misled the judicial procedure.

Mayor Thushara Sangeewa Vitharana, Nihal Justin, Sunil, Tharanga and Mayor’s father Sunil Vitharana were indicted in High Court for the case.

The Judge remanded the complainant Anjaya Nalaka of Kurunegala, Kandegedara until the conclusion of the case and fixed the case for February 25.
