Accordingly, construction work of all four stages are in progress.

Speaking to the Daily News, Mohan said the major part of the construction has already been completed and only the final touches such as carpetting, fencing, lighting needs to be completed.

He added that with the completion of the second stage, the usual traffic jam experiencing throughout the day on Colombo – Kandy and Colombo – Kurunegala roads will be significantly reduced.

“In line with the Central Expressway project, the Colombo to Ambepussa road is being widened to four lanes and construction of this project has been completed upto Nittambuwa by now. It has been scheduled to complete construction work by the middle of this year. This would enable motorists to use the section stage of the Central Expressway to Kurunegala,” he noted.
