State hospitals lacking facilities

Ragama Teaching Hospital lacks essential drugs such as aspirin, according to patients.

Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne’s repeated assurance that all drugs were available in all state-run hospitals is a lie, patients said.

The situation is the same at Minuwangoda District Hospital, according to patients. They say they have to get all tests done outside the hospital as the hospital lacks facilities.

One patient said he was disappointed that he was asked by the hospital to purchase the strips to check his blood sugar level as the hospital does not have them.
