Promising young opener Avishka Fernando hit a career best 223 for Colts CC on the opening day of their SLC Major League Tier ‘A’ Inter-Club cricket match against Tamil Union at the SSC grounds yesterday.
Fernando struck 30 fours and six sixes in compiling a superb 223 off 212 balls to help Colts to a first innings total of 414-2 by the close.
Angelo Perera (NCC), Sangeeth Cooray (Colts), Himasha Liyanage (Army CC) and Dilshan de Zoysa (Army CC) also made hundreds while CCC bowler Lahiru Madushanka captured six wickets for 51 against Chilaw Marians.
Matches will be continued today on day two.
