Seven drown in Chilaw coast

Seven persons have drowned in the sea along the Chilaw - Wennappuwa coastal belt, so far this month.

A Puttalam Disaster Management Centre official told the Daily News, yesterday, that people visiting the Munneswarm kovil tend to bathe in the sea nearby.

Furthermore, a Kurunegala Disaster Management Centre official said that 56 persons, including 23 schoolchildren, had drowned while bathing in the sea or other water sources during the past six months. Hence, school heads, teachers, and parents were urged to be vigilant of their children while on trips.
