St Joseph’s College, Colombo 10 won the All Island Under 18 Division one football tournament for Renown Presidents Trophy for the third consecutive year beating Royal College, Colombo by 2-1 in a thrilling encounter on Sunday 13th January at the Sugathadasa Stadium.

Harin Fernando, Minister of Telecommunication, Foreign Employment and Sports was the chief guest with Athula Wijewardena, Deputy Director of Education, Health Physical Education and Sports and Robert Peiris, President of Renown Sports Club being the guests of honour.

SJC was led superbly by Sachinthaka Perera who controlled the midfield and set the tempo for the team throughout the tournament Vice Captain Kavindya Rupasinghe the hero of the Joe-Pete big match continued his knack of scoring goals at vital moments by scoring the winning goal in the final minute of the match.

Star striker Shenal Sandesh who opened the scoring for the Joes in the final was named the Best Player of the match and also won the award for the Top Goal Scorer of the tournament.

It is a truly tremendous achievement to win the title three years in a row.

In 2016 Joes won the championship under Mayanaka Perera, brother of this years captain Sachinthaka Perera followed by a win under Jason Fernando in 2017
