‘Social media ahead of traditional media’

It was proved during the political crisis that the traditional media cannot control everything, Leader of the House and Public Enterprise, Kandyan Heritage and Kandy Development Minister Lakshman Kiriella said.

The Minister said 90 percent of the media acted in favour of the coup.

He noted that the media owners played a role in the coup, and therefore the employees of those media organisations could not be blamed for it.

“The media owners favoured a change of government. Our government could defeat the coup using the websites. I am happy that this coup proved that social media is ahead of traditional media,” he said.
