Land dispute ends in patricide

A drunken man had allegedly killed his father with a sharp object over a land dispute in Pannala, on Monday. The deceased has been identified as G. Edward Wijepala, a 62-year-old resident of Wadumunnegedara.

The suspect, aged 35, is an alcoholic; and has demanded that his father leave the house family home for him and his family to settle down there. However, the victim had refused and the suspect had subsequently attacked him. The deceased had been living alone in the house after his wife had eloped years ago. Investigations are continuing.
