Opener Kamil Mishara stroked a fine century to put Sri Lanka ahead on the first innings of the one-off 4-day under 19 youth test against Australia at the SSC grounds yesterday.

By stumps on the second day Sri Lanka continuing from their overnight score of 20 for no loss in reply to Australia’s first innings of 269-9 declared had scored 287-7 to nose ahead by 18 runs with three wickets in hand.

Mishara held the Lankan innings together with a patient knock of 105 off 235 balls that included 17 fours.

With partner Thaveesha Kahaduwaarachchi, Mishara got the Lankan innings to a solid start posting 93 for the first wicket and a further 84 for the second with Mohamed Samaaz who made 43.

Following the two partnerships Australia fought back to capture five wickets for 68 runs through spinners Jarrod Freeman and Tanveer Sangha with only Chamindu Wijesinghe 39 off 55 balls offering any kind of resistance.

The match continues today on its third day.
