KANDY SPORTS ROUND UP:

Soldiers in Kandy

Dialog rugby league’s reigning champions Kandy Sports Club play their final game at home Nittawela when they take on seventh placed Army SC today at 4 pm. When these sides faced off in the first leg, Kandy SC beat the soldiers. In last week's game, Kandy SC capitalized on their possession against Air Force SC, especially in the first 40 minutes, and passed the 50 point mark. If they had played the same way in the second half they had all the chances of passing the 100 points mark, but they gave a break to the bench players in the second 40 minutes.

Amazing, Kandy SC came to the tournament with a few things they needed to put right, and they got it right, due to the excellent determination the players put into the game, which helped them to win all the matches they played. Kandy SC has been a top tough side all season and coming into this game it should be another win for them. They have an experienced side, and have shone brighter than any other side this season.

In every game Kandy SC had a game plan. They will be brimming with confidence when they take the field. In their bid to gain more possession in play they have decided to play the best side. Their forwards are in good form, and should hold sway in the line outs with their jumpers, and also win major share of the set pieces. Their halves combination has hit it off smoothly and they have the fastest set of wingers in the club scene today with fullback also joining the line to form the overlap.

Soldiers possessing a lighter pack, will go all-out to be faster at the break down point, with their players, are gluttons for work in the loose and should be better at break down point. In the back division the soldiers will try to go all out to show their ability to slice through the tiniest gap while their quarters will try their best to breach the defence which will be a difficult task. The atmosphere at Nittawela today will be electric. Referee: Sarath Madugalle
