Celebrations were in full swing at Serendib Leisure hotels to kick start the New Year in true Sri Lankan flair. As 2018 came to an end, the night came alive with boundless energy and stellar live entertainment to ensure every guest delightfully rings in the New Year.
The star of the show at Club Hotel Dolphin was the fabulous array of cuisines from around the world sprawled along the hotel’s lawn, curated by Chef Dadison Zoysa and his team. Endless entertainment of English classics sent the crowds on a frenzy of non-stop fun and as the clock struck 12 the spectacular display of fireworks lit up the Negambo skies, leaving spectators in awe.
Avani Bentota Resort was the place to be to ring in 2019 with the infectious sounds of the house DJ and live band that kept everyone grooving and moving on the dancefloor. Dancing competitions, crowning of the Avani Queen and raffle draws were just a few of the activities that the hotel had in-store for the New Year’s Eve Dinner Dance. Chef Viraj Kumarage led his team to create culinary wonders with a delicious spread of lobsters, king prawns, lamb, turkey, assortment of sushi, action stations and many more. The best part of the night was when the Bentota beach strip came to life with the breathtaking firework display at midnight.

The terrace overlooking the lagoon at Avani Kalutara Resort was adorned with fairy lights and tiki torches creating the perfect ambience for guests to countdown to the New Year. Spearheaded by Chef Gihan Chamindra a selection of local delicacies and refreshing tropical concoctions were available in plenty for a long night of dancing and merriment.
With uninterrupted views of the magnificent Sigiriya Rock Fortress while dining under the stars;guests that welcomed 2019 at Hotel Sigiriya were undeniably part of a unique New Year’s Eve experience. Chef Bernard Jayasuriya and his team played a massive role in helping to make the night a roaring success.
The night sky was beautifully adorned when Lantern Boutique Collection and Villa 700 released a myriad of Chinese lanterns at midnight. It was a night to remember with Chef Chandima Godawaththe and his team creating an array of indulgences fit to end the year with a bang.
