Life Guards Units will be constructed in Arugambay and Panama to provide an efficient service to tourists.

A large number of local and foreign tourists frequent Arugambay and Panama to spend their holidays, especially to surf, bathe and visit Kumana wildlife sanctuary.

Local tourists are also attracted to Ulle, Arugamabay and Panama. At times of critical situations, Life Guard services are required at the coastal areas where people prefer to take a sea bath.

Foundation stones were laid for Life Guard Units at Panama, Ragamveli, Peanut Farm, Pottuvil Kottukal and Arugambay, recently.

Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Kapila Jayasekara and Deputy Inspector General Nuwan Weddasinghe laid foundation stones. Officer-In-Charge of Police Samantha Wijesekera, Lahugala Divisional Secretary S. S. Anuruddha, OIC Panama Police S. Jayasinghe and Life Guards were also present.
