Police will today conduct an inquiry into an incident where a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha member had allegedly threatened our Silumina web journalist Prabuddhi Ranasinghe.
He is believed to have threatened Ranasinghe over a disclosure made by him on his Face book, concerning a book distribution programme held at Kelaniya Himbutuwelgoda Siril Mathew Playgrounds for children January 1 .
“Peliyagoda police was to hold the inquiry yesterday but the SLPP member did not turn up at the police station as was expected. He came to the station two hours late,” Peliyagoda Police said.
Hence, the inquiry was postponed to the following for today. The Pradeshiya Sabha member is said to have stormed into a shop managed by Ranasinghe’s wife on January 5 and threatened to kill her husband. Peliyagoda Police are investigating.
