Steps would be taken to build the SLFP in the future.
"I request all SLFP supporters who left the party during the last few years and joined other parties to return and help strengthen the SLFP," said newly appointed SLFP General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara on Sunday. He was speaking after receiving blessings of Most Ven. Tibbotuwewe Sri Sumangala Mahanayake Thera of Malwatta Chapter prior to commencing duties in his new post from yesterday.
“I urge party members to work more positively for the benefit of the people. This new post was given to me by President Maithripala Sirisena as he has kept trust in me.
“My appointment was unanimously approved by the SLFP Central Working Committee.
Hereafter, nobody from the SLFP will betray us and join other parties,” said Jayasekara.
