Barbie turns 60 this year and is still going strong. The doll has known many controversies over body shape and skin tone. Makers Mattel still sell 58 million Barbies a year in more than 150 countries.

When Barbie dolls first hit stores in 1959, they cost $3 - but times have drastically changed. Now, as one of the most lucrative toys ever, Barbies can cost upwards of thousands of dollars.

Mattel, the toy’s creator, often launches special limited editions of the doll, in addition to collaborating with famous clothing and jewelry designers. These days, a few of them are worth some major cash if they’re in their original boxes and in good condition!
