Nearly 30 projects launched in Maharagama

Maharagama Urban Council member Dhanushka Ramanayake said he had made his Urban Council election manifesto themed Mawatha a reality by launching 27 development projects in the area.

All projects cost Rs. 435 million with another 18 projects earmarked for launching soon.

Ramanayake in a press release said the Boralesgamuwa wewa project, which is a special project under the Maharagama Development Project, was launched in league with the Urban Development Authority (UDA), Sri Lanka Land Reclamation and Development Corporation (SLRDC) and the Irrigation Department. It will include a jogging track around it, a children’s park and an open air theatre.

Work has also been launched on the Maharagama new bus stand costing Rs. 65 million in association with the UDA.

The proposed Maharagama car park with several storeys will be a reality soon. Sixteen road development projects would soon be completed at a cost of Rs. 11.93 million.
