Bus conductor held in drug case

Kurunegala Chief Magistrate Sampath Hewawasam remanded a suspect accused of dealing drugs recently.

The accused is a bus conductor and a resident of Kurunegala. He had been arrested with 2.72 grams of heroin in his possession.

Police told court that four arrest warrants had previously been issued for the suspect.

About 1,236 suspects had been apprehended in connection with drug-related offences in Kurunegala during the past 10 months, a police chief in the district told the Daily News.
