Huge winter storms hits US southeast

A powerful winter storm that hit the U.S. Southeast over the weekend forced the cancellation of more than 1,000 flights yesterday.
Visuals shared with Reuters showed heavy snowfall in North Carolinas, and fallen trees blocking roads in South Carolina and one reported death from a tree that fell on a car.
Power companies reported the storm knocked out service to more than 300,000 people, the majority of them in North Carolina.
More than 380,000 customers were without power in the Carolinas, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and Virginia on Sunday afternoon, Poweroutage.us reported.
The governors of both Virginia and North Carolina declared a state of emergency before the storm hit in order to help mobilize resources from the state governments to help with recovery efforts.
