Cambrian Juniors win by four wickets

A fine match bag of 9 for 4 (2/5 and 7/35) by left arm leg spinner Rasindu Hashan Fernando helped Prince of Wales College to defeat formidable Maris Stella College Negombo by four wickets in their inter school under 13 division one second round match conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association for the Singer Trophy and worked off at Moratuwa.

Visitors batted first were skittled out for a paltry 59 runs and skipper Achala Perera claimed 5 for 17 runs and in reply Cambrians scored 75 runs with another good spell of bowling by Yohan Fernando who captured 5 for 18 runs and in their second essay Maris Stella collapsed for 58 runs leaving a target of 43 runs for an outright victory and Cambrians notched up the required score for the loss of six wickets.

Maris Stella College – 59 in 36 overs – (Achala Perera 5/17, Rasindu Heshan Fernando 2/5, Yenula devthusa 2/16 and 58- Sunal Nethmina 32 n/o, Rasindu Heshan Fernando 7/35, Yenula Devthusa 3/21).

Prince of Wales – 75 in 27.2 over – (Yohan Fernando 5/18, Ravishka Fernando 4/39 and 43/6 – (Yohan Fernando 2/13, Sonal Nehmina 2/18).
