A book titled Poth Gule Wagathuga, authored by Assistant Ruhuna University Librarian Sakunthala Seneviratne, was launched at the Ruhuna University auditorium, recently. The event was held under the patronage of the Sinhala Studies Department Dean Dr. Anura Pannalage.

The guest speech was made by professor W.K. Weerasinghe of the Kelaniya University Library Science Department, while the keynote address was given by Professor W.A. Weerasooriya of the same department.

Seneviratne said that children, who used to read books, were now addicted to television, computers and smartphones. She added that students should cultivate the habit of reading books through smartphones.

“Young children are prone to commit crimes as they have veered from reading,” Seneviratne said, “So I request youth who are familiar with modern technology to use their phones as libraries.”
