‘Let’s shun all differences for progress of SLFP’

All members of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) including the progressive forces of the country should be united and rally round under one banner, shunning all ideological differences, as the SLFP leadership has joined hands in response to the aspirations of the majority of the masses of the country, Southern Province Chief Minister Shan Wijayalal De Silva told the media.

He was responding to a query from the media over the contemporary political developments in the country.

With the extraordinary political change on January 8, 2018, members of SLFP, were divided owing to an ideological clash among them. However, the majority of SLFP members did not wish a split in the party.

They fervently wished a reunion of party leadership, specifically the unification between former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and incumbent President Maithripala Sirisena. At present, that eager expectation of the people has been fulfilled, he said.

The present change was the hope of the majority and it has now been realised.

Now we have to shun all differences in vision and mission and reunite for the progress of the party, the Chief Minister said.
