IUSF protests student activists’ expulsion

The Inter University Students’ Federation (IUSF) yesterday took to the roads demanding the reversal of the decisions to expel and suspend student activists in the Rajarata and South-Eastern Universities.

Heavy traffic was reported in and around Town Hall in Colombo due to the protest which was held in the afternoon.

Recently, the question of these students who were expelled and suspended were raised in Parliament by JVP MP Nalinda Jayatissa and it was pointed out that they have continuously promoted ragging which is the reason why such steps have been taken.

However, Jayatissa said the authorities should find a better solution to bring campus life back to normal in these two universities.

Meanwhile, the IUSF said the decision to suspend and expel the students was incorrect and unfair. According to their claims, this is part of an attempt to suppress student activists.
