Colours Eve 2018 of Girls High School. Kandy was held under the patronage of the Chief Guest Sureni Hulangamuwa Tennakoon, an old girl of the school, Former Games Captain and School Captain at the Constance Mallet Hall, Girls High School,Kandy recently. She was accompanied by her husband, Bandula Tennakoon, former SLAF Wing Commander.

The Principal of the School, Malkanthi Abeygunasekera received the Chief Guest and the other guests including Athula Jayawardena, Director of Sports (CP) and Indika Kodituwakku, Regional Manager, Peoples Bank.

The event was full of entertaining events such as dancing, music, songs and drama in all three languages. The Chief Guest said that as a former Head Prefect of the school she had to speak in front of the former Prime Minister, Sirimavo Bandaranayake in the year 1971 during insurgency when the school was full of security personnels. This made her nervous but she managed to dfeliver a good speech.

Around 354 students received various types of awards such as Merit, Super Merit, Half Colours, Colors, Half Star awards, Star Awards, Rising Star Awards, Splendid Star Awards and Super Magnificent Star Awards for sports like netball, swimming, table tennis, gymnastics, badminton, chess, hockey, karate, cadet platoon, volleyball etc.
