Fruit gardens at temples, schools

State schools and Buddhist temples will have fruit gardens under the guidance of President Maithripala Sirisena.

In two months, 2,300 fruit gardens will be set up following the presidential initiative. The Kurunegala and Puttalam Districts will have 200 gardens.

Free saplings and seeds will given to school heads, chief monks and Dhamma School heads and about 150,000 plants will be given to farmers this week, the Kurunegala District Senior Divisional Secretary said

He was addressing a meeting held at Bingiriya Devagiri Raja Maha Viharaya, Kurunegala recently.
