Russian remanded

Galle Chief Magistrate Harshan Kekunawela remanded a Russian until October 23 when he was produced before court by Galle police for allegedly violating visa conditions.

The Russian, Andry Pavlovich Amshanikove, was arrested on a tip off while he was tattooing a youth for money at Thenkallagoda in Galle.

He had allegedly charged Rs. 15,000 per person.

Police sought an order to hand over the Russian to the Emigration and Immigration Controller.

The Russian had regularly visited India to buy tools and materials for the business during his stay in Sri Lanka.

He had denied the allegations and stated that he was tattooing as a hobby.
